Sympaticus (2009)
Release date: December 7, 2009

Album front
The album Sympaticus took Daniel a year to complete and the first thing to notice is how skillfull he has become when it comes down to mixing and producing. Not only does this album differ from the two other ones musicially, it is as if he left his garage and headed into a major studio. It sounds exactly that great. Daniel has developed his voice so much that it almost cannot be compared to the album before released only a year earlier. It sounds richer, fuller and…madder. As if he is letting it all out. Not giving a shit about what anyone thinks anymore. Maybe it’s age. After all Daniel is in his thirties now and has been doing music for more than 15 years.
The album blasts off with AM-FM guitars leaving you thinking you’ve run into a low budget recording only to be slapped in the face by the alarming vocals yelling “let’s go”. The title song (and the first single) ”Sympaticus” is a straight on punk rock song. At first you might think it is a love song, and in a way it is, but not in a traditional way. Very clever, very amusing. Daniel is actually paying tribute to a drug called Inderal – “Now I don’t mind cold hands and feet, it doesn’t bother me / Cause all of that propanolol sets me free / Tell me doctor, tell me now, how many can I pop? / Just how many milligrams before my heart will stop.”
As the album progresses you become more and more amazed by the depth of the lyrics and stories involved. There is a great variety of songs that suits the bored teenager as much as the mainstream listener. For example the song “Keep the Lights on” is a very personal song about Daniels mother experiencing heavy panic attacks and how Daniel as a kid would witness this in shock and fear. There is a great deal of sadness in this as Daniel sings – “I try to help you but there’s nothing that I can do / But you convince me that my presence is helping you / I bring you water and I tell you that I love you mom.” Daniel then slips into a world of fantasy just to be able to cope with the situation – “Keep the lights on, chase away my darkest dreams / Slip into a state of fantasy / Things will get better, must hold on to the hopes we’ve got / Of the better days that we forgot.”
This is an album that will slip far too many listeners by just because it lacks a Warner or a Universial sticker on it. And that’s just a shame. But you know how it is, I’ll just keep it to myself and enjoy my own little secret…my preeeecious.

I like “Death of a Nation” as well. The vocal harmonies are great. (HeadwithWings at flashback.info).
Fantastic! The vocals are really good, you have a great voice. The guitars are heavy, kick ass melody as well as message/lyrics. Among the best stuff I have heard as far as demos goes. (December at flashback.info).

Comments at Garageband.com on first single ”Medal of Sorrow”
OH MAN! That siren intro is so creepy!! In a good way! It’s a perfect intro to this chord progression, which by the way, is very fresh and catchy. The guitars in this song sound thick and beautiful. The main guitar riff sounds slightly out of tune, but that may be what you’re going for. The vocal tone fits well in the song, but consider adding more harmonies in the chorus, or just raising the volume on the one’s you’ve got. It’ll really make that chorus stand out! I love the catchyness of the line “All good soldiers fall in line, tell me are you ready to die?” The dark lyrics against the bright melody really makes this point hit hard, in a gleefully-sick-to-your-stomach kind of way. (amlingisrad from Athens, Georgia – Dec 5, 2006).
Awesome siren. I really, really like the guitar sound. very crunchy sounding. I like the vocals a lot too! (Porkypig187 from East Meadow – Dec 2, 2006).
Everything screams Modern Rock here. The Singer sounds a bit like Billy Joe from Green Day – an obvious influence. The production sounds nice and upfront – everything is mixed well. The Drums sounds particularly tough. (CallerDrummer from Lansing, Michigan – Dec 2, 2006).
All righty…alarming intro. Yes, pun intended. Actually, the ’siren-alarm’ opening the song was innovative and it sets up the mood. The drums came in with a snap–nice intro. The playing here is tight. Really diggin the vibe of this one.The lead vocalist has a cool tone. This singers voice is totally fitting with the sound here–nice. Kind of has a Billie Joe Armstrong quality to his voice. The back up parts are placed nicely (little low in the mix, but still good.)The drums keep a mean beat and the bass is right on. The guitar parts are solid and the tones/effects used are edgy. The balance on the mix is actually pretty good. The lyrics are evoking. With the weight of what’s been going on out there…it’s a depth that is needed! (At least in my opinion.) Well written lyrics. The lead guitar part around the 2 minute mark is raw and fits in. This song is tight and all I can say is: Shop this thing. You have created a great sound here and fitting for what’s being played on the alternative and even mainstream. Good luck and keep goin at it–in this cutthroat music biz. (MsPaige from Portland, Oregon – Nov 29, 2006).
Pretty tight sounding band. I like the up front sound of the mix its very in your face. Vocals are strong and delivered with confidence and of course lots of attitude. The key to this kind of music is balls. The sex pistols could barely play but they had’em. This song has that aggression. Guitar playing, drums and bass work well as a unit, maybe more vocals up front wouldn’t hurt. (ChiliRowsin from Port Perry, Ontario, Canada – Nov 25, 2006).
Sounds alot like 21st Century Digital Boy by Bad Religion to me. Like that song. I don’t like the siren at the beginning here. If you’re trying to get an “Air Raid” type war feel to things, to fit the lyrics, I don’t think the siren works. Reminded me of Star Wars. Drums seem a bit far back in the mix, tinny.I’ve only listened three times, but I applaud you for what seem to be politically charged lyrics. Even if I don’t agree with what you’re saying, if songs are something one feels strong about, always has made sense to me you’d wanna mix in words and opinions you feel strongly about too, not just boilerplate squeaks about “Baby” and “Girl”.“All good soldiers fall in line, tell me are you ready to die, land of the free home of the brave.” That will get some shit thrown at you in Texas. (mlhula from Royal Oak, Michigan – Nov 24, 2006).
This song has great energy, and the melody melody is really catchy. The lead singer has a good unique quality about his voice. I love the guitar solo at 2:15. Production is good but the guitar could be brought down ever so slightly. The only thing lacking is originality. This kind of song has been done over and over, but if your not worried about that, then you’ve done a good job. (FFAQ from Washington, DC – Nov 21, 2006).
Actual air-raid siren followed by like-minded guitars, then a serviceable if approximate punk vocal: at this point you’re willing to give it a chance. Then you realize it’s upholding the great traditon of antiwar songs, and that makes you immediately disposed to see its good points, which are: lyrics, cohesion of band, hook. (BADGNUS from Milan, Italy – Nov 15, 2006).
Alarm is going off!! cool start! I would like to see this live. The music is really good except for the vocals. They can be a little more up front…hard to hear the lyrics. But your voice is cool, like Green Day. This song really rocks. like I said, would love to see you guys live. This is just my opinion and it does not mean anything. ;o) Good Luck! (BLINDSWITCH from New York – Nov 13, 2006).
