Still in production

I was going to change the release date (once again) on the index page, but then I figured, what the hell. I have no idea really when I will be finished with the album. It’s just silly to set a definate date. I hope it will be out in november. Maybe that’s what I should have written “out sometime in october or november”.

Anyways – everything is going smoothly. I have put out a couple of songs for people to review, you know – to hear what they have to say about the mix, production in general…any reaction. I was blown away but the positive reactions I got, to say the least. Not that I don’t have faith in my own music, but people were honestly breath taken it seems. On one of the internet forums for musicians where I look for techincal support and who know nothing about me, people were writing that it was the best stuff they have ever heard on there and so far nothing bad, except for a few pointers regarding the mix, but I can live with that.

My best friend, I heard it on his voice when he left a message on my phone after hearing the new track “Keep the lights on”, was basically in shock. He later wrote me…

I’m in shock…it sounds so fucking nice. It’s a fantastic song, your voice sounds awesome (you sing beatifully), but also technically it sounds perfect. It’s one of your best songs, hands down. Shit, Daniel, it sounds great – honestly. Cross my heart. The piano, strings, etc…you’ve made it!

If that is not positive critisism, then I don’t know what is :)

Maybe the reaction amongst people around me is different because this album sounds more mature, I have grown both as a musician and technically. I’ve become better at mixing, I have become tougher against myself, always forcing me to do better. I never settle for the second best anymore.

Maybe it seems stupid for one to put oneself on a pedestal like this, but the reactions have been greater than I could have ever imagined and I feel so excited about this album.

There’s not much left too do. I have to sing back up vocals and finish the mix. It will take time but it should be done before the end of november. The first thing I’ll do is to put up all the tracks on this site.

Demo – have a listen

This is a short clip of the title track off of the new record called “Sympaticus”. This clip is not mixed and it is not mastered. The vocals are only for referens listening and will be re-recorded for the final version. Still, it’s pretty cool to hear it taking shape.
